As a food that is supposedly made from a bun, a barbecue patty, pickles, and onions, the McRib Sandwich–which is only available for a short time in the U.S. and Canada–contains over 70 ingredients. The McDonald’s official website is even daring enough to list all of the ingredients contained in it. This sandwich is not only full of genetically modified ingredients, a mixture of toxic fillers and preservatives, but it also contains some ingredients that are banned in other countries.
According to the labeling on the current box, the sandwich only consists of five basic components – a pork patty and BBQ sauce with pickle slices, onions and a sesame bun.
Time magazine closely examined McDonald’s own list of ingredients and found that the sandwich contains a total of 70 ingredients, one of them being azodicarbonamide, a flour-bleaching component that is often used to produce foamed plastics. Azodicarbonamide is also a compound used to bleach yoga mats, and is found in the soles of shoes. This compound is banned in Europe and Australia due to health risks!
Another ingredient in the McRib bun is ammonium sulfate, which is also found in fire extinguisher powder and flame-proofing agents, according to the International Plant Nutrition Institute.
The McRib is a product of “restructured meat technology.”
Richard Mandigo, a professor from the University of Nebraska, developed the “restructured meat product” that the McRib is made of.
An article from Chicago magazine stated that “restructured meat product” contains a mixture of tripe, scalded stomach, and heart, which is then mixed with salt and water to extract proteins from the muscle. The proteins connect all the pork trimmings together so that it can be re-molded into any shape — for example, a fake slab of ribs.
